DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Fitness is the ability to perform daily tasks vigorously and alertly, to enjoy leisure-time activities and to meet emergency demands. Many of us are aware of the basic benefits of fitness. It helps us to perform our life activities smoothly and effectively.

All educationists recognize the value of physical exercise and fitness today. Books develop our mind and physical exercise deveSlops our body. A sound mind is always there in a sound body.

Hence, the physical education department of Y.V.N.R. GDC with its scientific approach enables the players, coaches as well as individuals who want to be physically fit, emotionally well balanced and socially adjustable.

The college gives topmost priority to physical education department by allotting at least one period a day for games and sports for each class in the academic time table and by giving substantial importance to conduct tournaments and association matches in the college. It added pride to the department when many former students of the college chosethe field of physical education as their professionalcareer by acquiring undergraduate diplomas, bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees.

Aims and Objectives of Physical Education Department

The Physical Education Department of the college strives hard to fulfill the following objectives:

  • To develop sportiveness among students.
  • To develop motor fitness and maintain good posture to untrained athletes.
  • To preserve and popularize the traditional Indian physical culture and sports.
  • To create athletic opportunities to gifted learners.
  • To help students in becoming physically fit.
  • To make students know thatachievements in sports are equivalent to achievements in academics.
  • To encourage college athletes to become national and international champions.

To motivate students in choosing a career in the field of Physical Education.

Faculty Achievements

  • S.D.V. Satyanarayana participated in 36th Orientation program of MANU University, Hyderabad from 10.07.2018 to 06.08.2018 and got "A Grade".
  • S.D.V. Satyanarayana was awarded doctoral degree on 29.12.2018 by Faculty of Physical Education, Nagarjuna University, Guntur.
  • S.D.V. Satyanarayana attended an FDP at Sir. C.R. Reddy College, Eluru on ICT skills from 24 october 2019 to 30 october 2019.
  • S.D.V.Satyanarayana attended an FDP at Indian Institute of Scientific Research and Analysis, Maharashtra on the topic Physical Education and Sports from 22 may 2020 to 26 may 2020.

Achievements

2017-18

  • YVNR GDC’s college Kho-Kho team has participated in Inter Collegiate Tournaments and got one selection to Krishna University team i.e. .J. Syam Kumar of 1stSc was selected and participated in South Zone Inter University Tournament.

2018-19

  • Our college’s Volley Ball team participated in Inter Collegiate Tournament and won 4th

 place.

  • Nagarjuna of 2nd BA was selected to Krishna University team and got a chance to play Volley Ball in Inter University Tournaments.

2019-20

  • Our college Volley Ball team won Runner’s prize in Inter Collegiate Tournaments and 2 players from the college were selected to Inter University Tournaments.
  • The college’s Kho-Kho team participated in Inter Collegiate Tournaments and J. Syam Kumar of 3rd Bsc was selected to Inter University Tournaments.

Sports, Games and Gym

DO’s

Ø  Exercise daily.

Ø  Do regular warm up’s before playing a game or doing an exercise.

Ø  Do warm down's after playing a game/ doing an exercise.

Ø  Take a gap between for every 2 ½ hour diet activity.

Ø  Do exercise early morning before taking breakfast.

Ø  Increase the level of your work outs gradually.

Ø  Follow the rules and regulations of the game/sport while playing.

Ø  Be sportive when you lose or win a game/sport.

Ø  Practice regularly the game/sport which you are interested in.

Ø  Handle the gym equipment carefully.

Ø  Use the gym equipment in the presence of Physical Director.

Ø  Obey the decisions of referees and officials of the game you are playing.
